"If you like homeless people and urine, this is your place." Sunset means a shift change. The man who makes balloon animals has abandoned his spot in front of Forever 21, replaced by a trio of break dancers. Mickey and Minnie Mouse are gone too. In their spot near Britney Spears' star two pairs of long, bare legs cast dramatic shadows. Pedestrians make their way along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Source:,0,5253330.htmlstory

City calls for new earthquake tests at Hollywood's Millennium site

R.I.P.D. stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges By Nick Allen , Los Angeles 6:40PM BST 22 Jul 2013 Comments The Conjuring, which cost just $20 million (13 million) to make and features no A-list stars, proved far more popular with audiences than R.I.P.D. starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds, and the animated film Turbo, which also featured Reynolds' voice. Each of those films had production budgets of around $130 million. The other four films with budgets of more than $100 million to underperform , since the start of summer cinema season on May 1, were Will Smith's After Earth, Johnny Depp's The Lone Ranger , action movie White House Down and science fiction epic Pacific Rim. Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in The Lone Ranger (Rex Features) Success for The Conjuring was a further blow to the strategy Hollywood studios have employed of pushing so-called "tent pole" action films, which have huge budgets but need large audiences to make profits. It also offered further evidence of how tens of millions of dollars spent on marketing those films can be wiped out in an instant as fans' negative reactions to a film spread on social media.
Source:

Hollywood's summer crisis continues with two major flops in a weekend

See the note at the bottom for details. July 22, 2013, 3:39 p.m. Los Angeles officials have asked the developer of a controversial Hollywood skyscraper proposal to conduct new seismic tests to determine whether the project's towers could be at risk in an earthquake. The request from the Department of Building and Safety comes as state officials are conducting their own geological Kardashian investigation in the area to establish whether a known fault line near the building site is active. It also comes as the City Council is scheduled to take up a major vote on the proposal, which would add two towers -- one at 39 stories and the other at 35 stories -- to either side of the iconic Capitol Records building. In initial geological reports filed with the Department of Building and Safety, the New York-based developer Millennium Partners found no danger of an earthquake fault. The department approved those reports.
Source:,0,1278670.story

Royal Baby: Hollywood's Best Tweets

Though she was investigated afterwards, charges were eventually dropped, and Woods issued a public statement, saying, "Some people have speculated that Elin somehow hurt or attacked me on Thanksgiving night. It angers me that people would fabricate a story like that. Elin never hit me that night or any other night. There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage, ever. Elin has shown enormous grace and poise throughout this ordeal. Elin deserves praise, not blame." The Tiger Woods incident led to a bit of debate, with some sections of the media running articles along the lines of 'The Year of Women Fighting Back' that gave props to Elin for "standing up to her" love rat hubby. Other critics argued that this was clearly an example of society's double standards when it comes to domestic abuse against men.
Source:
